IMS Fire Protection Limited employ fully trained FIRAS 3rd Party accredited airless sprayers to apply thin film intumescent paint systems to steel framed buildings in various locations throughout the United Kingdom.

We are generally contracted to apply water based basecoats to steel frames to achieve 60 minutes fire resistance although we have carried out both 90 and 120 minute fire resistant applications.

We are approved applicators of the various intumescent paint ranges manufactured and supplied by companies such as:

• Nullifire
• PPG
• Sherwin Williams
• International Paints

Our procedures include for each potential contract to be checked to ensure that the specified intumescent basecoat is compatible with the steel primer coat applied off site prior to erection therefore ensuring longevity of the applied fire protection system.

Once applied the wet film thickness of the intumescent paint is checked to ensure that the manufacturer’s thicknesses have been achieved for the specified period of fire protection. In addition the dry film thickness is randomly checked.

Each contract may be audited by our FIRAS Inspectors as part of our continuing 3rd Party Accreditation and their reports can be made available on request.

In addition we may be requested to apply a decorative top coat in exposed situations.
