For the protection of structural steel frames we would recommend either the application of a thin film intumescent paint system or a fire board solution – the choice of which would depend on cost, time and internal building design. Achievable fire ratings for intumescent paints range from 30 to 120 minutes or up to 4 hours for fire board systems but the requirements for each project are as dictated within Approved Document B of the Building Regulations. In addition, fire rated compounds can be used to infill penetrations through floors which can also provide a load bearing solution. Further services offered include the supply and installation of insulated, and where necessary fire rated, soffit board systems. In addition, our operatives are extremely experienced in the installation of stopping works to ensure buildings are airtight and sealed acoustically.
