FIRAS certification started in the mid 1990’s and has lead the way in improving standards of installation of fire protection products/systems to the benefit of the construction industry and the clients it serves. It is a voluntary, third party certification for installation contractors of both passive and active fire protection systems, operated by Warrington Certification, and accredited by UKAS to EN45011. FIRAS accredited status is a minimum requirement for some major Clients, such as the Ministry of Defence. It is becoming better understood by more Clients, Insurers and construction companies giving them increased confidence in the quality of the installation and in turn increasing reliability of the anticipated performance in a fire.
