Ian has been in the construction industry since starting out as a trainee quantity surveyor in private practice for Baker, Wilkins & Smith in 1976.

He gained his degree in Quantity Surveying from what is now Nottingham Trent University, and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building.

In addition he is a Technician member of the Institute of Occupational Safety & Health.

After working as a quantity surveyor at varying levels in professional practice, and for various construction companies and subcontractors he formed IMS Fire Protection Limited in 1997.

Initially working out from his own house, the Company moved to rented offices in Stony Stratford, Milton Keynes, where it stayed for a number of years before relocating to its current offices in the Stratford Office Village at Wolverton Mill, Milton Keynes.

Ian now oversees the overall running of the Company, but giving special attention to the Commercial and Health & Safety aspects.
